Choosing a wedding officiant can seem like a confusing and daunting task.  You will want to choose someone you are comfortable with and who can understand your ideas and dreams for your ceremony.  During our initial consultation, we will discuss those ideas and dreams as well as get to know each other.  I will also share what I can offer to make those ideas a reality.  We can meet in an informal, relaxed atmosphere to begin talking about what you envision for your wedding day.  Please visit the “Ideas” page for some initial brainstorming thoughts to help us get started.

Planning

Many couples see planning a ceremony as an overwhelming task.  Others know exactly what they want.  No matter where you fall on this continuum, I will assist you in developing your ceremony into a meaningful event. Perhaps you prefer a small, intimate, and private ceremony in your home; perhaps you have always dreamed of a garden ceremony with 500 of your closest friends gathered.  No matter what your taste, we will work together on all aspects and parts of your ceremony to create just what you envision.  There are web sites on the “Links” page that will offer suggested readings/poetry, music, and other content ideas, as well as vendors that you might want to check out.

Rehearsal

The rehearsal is an important part of your planning.  Some people do not feel the need to rehearse, but it gives all of us a chance to discover any snags that might come up that could jeopardize the flow of the ceremony, (the flower girl REFUSES to walk down the aisle... the person reading a poem has a very soft voice) and to deal with those snags before the actual event.  It is also fun to do a walk through and to anticipate the “real thing”. I will coordinate the rehearsal, and assist anyone involved in the ceremony with their part at that time. Rehearsals are usually the night before the wedding, but your schedule and the availability of the site will probably determine when it can be scheduled.

Ceremony

The day will finally arrive, and I will be available before the ceremony to assist with any last minute changes or concerns.  I will help to get the ceremony details  that we planned organized and make sure that everyone is ready. Those last few moments before we begin can be nerve racking, but precious.  That is the time to stop, take a breath and remind yourselves of the meaning of what is about to happen, and the fact that you want to enjoy what you have worked so hard to create.  I will ensure that things go smoothly throughout the ceremony.
